We are happy to announce that the International Relations Department at SFSU once again had a successful attendance at this year’s Model EU competition at the University of Washington in Seattle. West Coast Model EU includes students representing universities from across the western half of the US and Canada, with over 30 total participants.

The International Relations Department was able to field 3 teams, representing the heads of government and Energy Ministers of Bulgaria, Rumania, and Denmark. They negotiated the regulation of AI, managing misinformation spread on the internet, accelerating commitment to the Climate-Neutral Goals, and Green Development for rural areas. Legislation required unanimity among all Heads of Government and Ministers. Their participation ensured successful passage of EU resolutions on these matters.

Our own Daniel Buschmeyer, also part of the International Relations Department, was the co-winner of “Best Head of Government.” Other members did very well for their first year of attendance. We hope they can return for next year’s competition.
